I recently attended the Chuck Close exhibition at SFMOMA. I had seen much of the work in the show previously when an exhibition of his work toured to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. So I was familiar with his artistic progression from high-detail monochromatic photo-realism of the late 1960s to the gridded colorful abstraction of his current paintings.
